Neighbors first

Surprise AZ community hub

Real-time tips live in the Facebook group. This page is the companion — what to ask, what we publish on the site, and how to stay useful without a newsletter.

How this works

Site + group, not email

There is no weekly newsletter. The public Surprise AZ Guide Facebook group is where neighbors share what’s open tonight, contractor leads, HOA questions, and pop-up events that move faster than a static page.

Group

What to post

  • Restaurant wins (and honest misses)
  • “Is this HOA strict?” / “Worth the dues?”
  • Weekend plans with kids or 55+ club tips
  • Road closures you just sat through on Loop 303 / Bell / Grand
Site

What we keep on the website

  • Events with official Surprise sources only
  • Restaurants we can cite with an official page
  • Parks, libraries, stadium, labeled day trips
  • Moving notes: commute, schools, HOA, heat
Ground rules

Keep it useful

Be kind. No political pile-ons. No spam listings. If you recommend a business, say why — one sentence beats a flyer dump. We may add strong, sourced suggestions to the Restaurants or Things to Do pages later.

Moving?

Ask before you buy

Neighbors usually know which HOAs are picky, which pools are actually open in July, and which school-boundary quirks matter. Start with the Moving guide, then ask the group for lived experience.
